The Institute offers training in a wide range of disciplines to students on 8 campuses, in a region comprising 9 local government areas of Hinchinbrook, Townsville, Burdekin, Bowen, Whitsundays, Flinders, Dalrymple, Palm Island and Charters Towers. This represents an area covering 145,800 square kilometres or 9% of the State of Queensland. Campuses are located in Townsville (City); Townsville (Pimlico); Charters Towers; Cannonvale (Airlie Beach, Whitsundays); Ingham; Burdekin; Bowen; Palm Island.
The Institute is also expanding into today's global environment, offering a variety of mediums to deliver education and training programs including online delivery, video conferencing and distance education. The use of these mediums enables the Barrier Reef Institute of TAFE to reach students throughout Australia and the international market place. The Institute offers courses to international students covering Tourism & Hospitality, Information Technology, Business, Visual Arts, Community Services & Human Services, Tertiary Preparation, Hairdressing & Beauty and Environmental Studies.
