There are many beautiful walks and bike ways in Townsville, but one of my absolute favorites is the Ross River Parkway. The Parkway consists of over 30 km of pathway along the gorgeous Ross River and it is also divided into smaller circuits if you don’t feel like riding or walking too long of a distance. The individual circuits range from 1.6km to 7.2km.

There is lots to do and see along the river as well, so you can even make a day of it. One of my favorite places on the way is Palmetum botanic gardens, where you can see plenty of wildlife too (just be mindful, cycling is not allowed in the Palmetum area). Another great spot to stop for a while is the Riverway Arts Center. There are also plenty picnic areas on the way if you’d just like to stop and enjoy the river views.

The pictures are taken from my bike ride along the Aplin’s Weir Circuit, which is also one of Townsville’s 10 000 steps walks. What a beautiful place to get a little exercise, or spend the afternoon with a lovely picnic!

I enjoy going to the Parkway for a bike ride especially during the week, when it’s near empty and it feels like I have the whole place for myself. During the weekends the Parkway gets a little busier, but thanks to the wide pathway there’s still plenty room for everyone. There are maps for the circuits (and also for other walks and bike ways) on Townsville’s website, but they are also clearly marked oIMG_0122 (3)n the pathway.

On to Grandmas’s!

This quaint little shop near the strand was amazing.

I enjoyed a feta and spinach shakshuka with my usual vanilla flat white.

The shakshuka was delicious I even got an extra bread roll. The food was a different approach to eggs. Beautifully cooked eggs in a tasty tomato based sauce with feta and spinach. The bread roll was to die for and had a delicious sweet undertone. 10/10 for SURE! The coffee was also delicious and paired with my breakfast perfectly, only downfall was that the bean type was not my favourite, but still rated highly on my list 8/10!

On to Fat Dogz!

This one is pretty close to home! I enjoyed a berry smoothie, chicken pesto wrap and my usual vanilla flat white.

The smoothie was delicious, perfect consistency and flavour, I would rate it a 10/10. The chicken pesto wrap was delicious and surprisingly filling I would give it a 9/10. The coffee was also pretty tasty even though I had it cold haha (busy days). Although it was generally a tasty coffee it wasn’t my favourite, but I still rate it a 7/10. Would definitely return for a post workout smoothie!

Hey! Cherie’s here 🥰

Are you ready for Christmas? I was on a Christmas light hunt last night and have found some hidden gems in town! This one is at Douglas which is 5 mins away from JCU Townsville Campus! It’s nice to see how people put effort in their Christmas deco isn’t it?

Merry Christmas, everyone!

TAAAA DAAA!

Here’s the Yesterday Eryn and Cherie had their last pottery class!

Eryn: we got our results of glazing. They turned out great! Not exactly what we're aiming for, but the unpredictability is exactly the beauty of glazing. We loved the works.

Cherie: I love how mindfulness takes place in pottery! Janell has provided us a carefree experience to express our creativity. Can’t explain how satisfying it is to watch our babies “come to life”! I am making some more and learning new skills. So excited to continue creating the second batch of our pottery!

On to Odyssey on the Strand!

I ordered their Canadian bacon maple French toast, a pomegranate and raspberry fruit crush and my usual vanilla flat white.

Man oh man, that breakfast was one of the most delicious things I have ever eaten in Townsville. The mascarpone and compote being on the side was my favourite considering I’m pretty picky with how much of each I enjoy. Food was an easy 11/10. The crush was tasty however, not enough flavour. Lastly their coffee did not live up to the expectation of the food, it was slightly bitter which I blame the beans for, so not much to say, 6/10.

Would 100% return for the food no doubt!

Eryn and Cherie continued their pottery classes!
Here’s what Eryn has to say:
“Finally we progressed to the glazing part! After our clays being fired, they become hard and "breakable". At this stage, the clay is still rough and plain. Glazing is coloring the hard clay using "clay-like" particles. How we glaze the pottery determing their look and texture! Even using the same glaze, the clay, surface of clay, how many layers we put on, and how we pit it on will make a big difference. The glazed clay will be fired again and we will get our unique final product!”

On to Bambini Cafe!

I ordered a eggs Benedict on a brioche bun, a watermelon and mint juice and an iced dirty chai latte.

The eggs benny, was alright. I was hopeful for the brioche bun to hit the spot but to me it just missed the mark, too much sweet toast to egg ratio, 6.5/10. The watermelon juice was delicious and refreshing on that fine morning so 10/10. The iced coffee was also delicious and exactly what I needed that morning, the size was huge and I even had to get it as a takeaway, 9/10 (I need to try their coffee hot before I can hand out a 10/10;)). The price was was fair considering I got 2 drinks 8/10 there.

Would definitely return for a refreshing juice and coffee!

On to Beet Bar!

I ordered a chicken burger with sweet potato chips, a fruity tuity juice and a dirty chai iced latte!

I have to admit I was a little disappointed in Beet Bar considering that they have rave revues. The burger was a pretty bland and greasy (I know it is deep fried and should expect some oil but this was too much) however, the chips were delicious, due to that I give the food a 5/10. The juice was amazing, perfectly delicious a perfect 10/10 there! The coffee however, also let me down, it was fairly bitter and I was barely able to taste the chai in it. Unfortunately, I will have to rate it a 5/10 as well. As for price, pretty average considering what I purchased, 7/10.

As much as I was disappointed, I will return incase it was just an off day!
